Marmon Mok Architecture, Populous, and W. E. Simpson Company, Inc. and Hussey worked together to create innovative arena seating designs.
The Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, is a premier multi-purpose stadium that hosts over 130 events with 70,000 excited fans every year. But after 31 years, its outdated seating system’s limited configuration abilities and lengthy, complex conversion times couldn’t pace with the modern demands of a diverse and dynamic event and fan experience.
Maximum versatility and durability.
Designed to adapt and withstand the perpetual chaos of back-to-back events, Hussey Seating tailored its damage-resistant MXP Telescopic Platform system to deliver efficiency and flexibility at scale. Addressing functional concerns, the new system seamlessly changes over in a fraction of the time. It can pivot and reconfigure at a moment’s notice, from pro and Collegiate Football, NHL, NBA, and MLS to Rolling Stones’ sold-out shows without missing a beat. To provide even greater flexibility, the new system incorporates low-rise seating, creating space for additional seating and floor-side experiences for events like basketball, boxing, and even the occasional WWE bout.
Less time, more money, more enthralled fans.
“The new system has truly expanded our possibilities. When unique event needs arise, we no longer have to turn them down. Instead, we can explore how we can make them a reality. This flexibility has been a game-changer for us.” – Tom McAffee, Operations Manager at the Alamodome, on the impact of the new seating system.
“Hussey’s been great. It’s just so easy to operate. We’ve been able to significantly cut down our conversion times, moving seating around. Everything that was provided has worked wonderfully.”
By working with Hussey Seating Company to implement our MXP Telescopic System that’s “built like a tank,” the Alamodome and its purveyors have renewed confidence in the arena’s seating for quicker conversions and increased opportunities to host a wider variety of events for generations of fans to come.
